A decision that changed everything

Some decisions change the direction of a life forever.

Ours began the day we left Colombia carrying a mix of hope, uncertainty, and the dream of building a better future for our family in the United States.

Like thousands of immigrant families, the first months were not easy. We accepted the jobs that were within reach: long days in cleaning, hospitality, and work in restaurants. They were days of effort, sacrifice, and learning days that taught us that no job is small when it is done with dignity and purpose.

Every dollar we saved had a destination: one day, we would build our own business.

The dream started in our kitchen

Without imagining it, that dream began in the kitchen of our home.

After a nutritionist recommended changes to our diet, we faced a condition that felt almost like a punishment for a Colombian family that loves arepas: we could only eat them if we prepared them completely from scratch, cooking the corn ourselves and avoiding anything beyond the natural grain.

What first felt like a sacrifice slowly became an opportunity.

We bought our first mill. We found the corn, the pots, the molds, and began a long season of testing. Day after day, we learned something new until we found the texture, the flavor, and the aroma that reminded us of homemade arepas the kind our parents and grandparents used to make.

Then came the moment we never forgot

Without planning it, every gathering with friends, every barbecue, and every family reunion became a chance to share our arepas.

And then something happened that we will never forget.

People would close their eyes when they tasted them. For a moment, they would return to their childhood, to their mother’s kitchen, to their grandparents’ farm, to the streets of their city, to the country that is missed so deeply when you live far away.

They were not just eating an arepa.

They were coming back home.

Soon the questions began:

What started as a family necessity grew through word of mouth, the love of our customers, and the trust of people who found in our arepas much more than food.

A small arepa, many cultures, one table

Today, our arepas are part of the table of entire families. We have customers as young as two years old who, surprisingly, are often among the biggest fans of our product and customers in their nineties who continue to enjoy them every day.

But the story did not stop there. Our kitchen began to bring cultures together.

People from the United States, Italy, Brazil, Belize, Mexico, Nicaragua, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Iran, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, China, Honduras, and many other countries have discovered that an arepa can accompany any meal of the day and become part of a simple, comforting way to eat.

We also receive customers from different states across the U.S. who, whenever they visit Miami, return home with their bags full of arepas to share with their families.

Over time, many customers have told us something that fills us with gratitude: choosing a product made from simple ingredients has helped them feel more connected to real food and reduce their dependence on ultra-processed options.

That confirmed what we believed from the very beginning:

Today, we continue preparing our arepas with the same commitment we had when we started: respecting tradition, caring for every ingredient, and remembering that behind every arepa there is a story, a family, and a dream.
